We are an English language homestay organisation specialising in individual one-to-one and two-to-one language teaching in the teacher's home. Our customers range from school or university students needing English for their studies, to business executives who need to learn English rapidly for their work.
Living with their teacher enables our clients to enjoy a unique experience of English culture, customs and way of life which they find invaluable. Our total immersion approach is what distinguishes Living Learning English from other language schools.
We started in 1995, and have provided courses for a wide range of students from ages 10 to 70, school students to prestigious business clients at senior management and executive level.
Living Learning English was founded and operated by Kate Hargreaves BSc (Hons), PGCE who has 35 years experience teaching English as a Foreign Language and managing language programmes overseas, in private language schools, state colleges, independent boarding schools and for Living Learning English.
In September 2025, Helen Lami became Principal of Living Learning English, succeeding founder Kate Hargreaves on her retirement after more than 30 years of leadership. At the same time, Living Learning English became part of the Academic Summer family, joining as a sister company.
Academic Summer, founded in 2008, offers high-quality academic holiday programmes in the UK and Canada. Their innovative courses use the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) approach, combining English language development with practical study in subjects such as Maths, Science, Arts, Social Studies and Career Pathways. With campuses in London, the Mendip Hills near Bristol, and in Canada, Academic Summer provides students with immersive, real-life learning experiences in inspiring settings. Together with Living Learning English, Academic Summer offers year-round opportunities and pathways for learners of all ages to achieve their goals.
