Arrival and Departure

Living Learning English takes great care to ensure that all students are met on arrival by their teacher, a staff member of Living Learning English or an appointed driver at the local airport, train or bus station. Please send a photograph with your enrolment form so your teacher can recognise you. We will also send you a photograph of your teacher and a sign with your name on it that the person meeting you at the airport will be holding in arrivals.

On the first day, you are welcomed into your teacher's home. You are given time to settle in and your teacher will explain everything about mealtimes, family routines, lessons and the local area. Your teacher will also plan social activities with you according to your interests. In the first lesson, you will discuss your language learning needs with your teacher who will assess your level of English and plan your course of study with you.

Your teacher will expect you to arrive on Sunday afternoon or evening and depart on Saturday morning. Longer stays can be arranged and an extra night at your teacher's home can be booked for a fee.

Local Transfers

Local transfers from the nearest bus or train station to the teacher's home are FREE. If you are a fairly confident traveller, it is easy to get from the airport to the teacher's home town by bus (www.nationalexpress.com) or by train (www.nationalrail.co.uk).

Airport Transfers

If you require a personal airport transfer, your teacher or a member of Living Learning English staff will be happy to meet you at the nearest airport for a reasonable charge. Please ensure the arrival and departure time is after 7.30am. Any flight requiring a personal transfer that arrives/departs before 7.30am will incur an additional charge.

Travelling to the UK

We will advise you on the best point of entry to the UK based on the location of your course - please talk to us about this before booking your flight. Please note that from 01.10.2021 EU citizens need a full passport to travel to the UK. It is no longer possible to travel on an ID card. COVID-19

During the pandemic, Living Learning English have become experts in making international travel safe and comfortable. We've organised flights, testing, quarantine arrangements and more for hundreds of students, so we know how confusing it can be to arrange international travel during a pandemic.

Drawing on our 28 years of expertise in arranging courses for students from all over the world and the experiences and resources our team has developed more recently, we’re making sure everyone in our care is well looked after and has full COVID arrangements made.

Our team can help you with testing, quarantine, safe travel, guardianship and hosting as well as emergency care and arrangements should anything happen whilst travelling or during your stay in the UK. We have a highly trained, professional team who provide quality services and can deal with any circumstances that arise due to the pandemic.

We know everything there is to know about PCR testing for pre-departure and post-arrival in the UK and our dedicated team understands the travel requirements for each country. We work closely with testing companies, cut through all the information from the UK government to give you exactly what you need for your specific travel requirements, let you know what you need to do when and give you schedules.

Please see our dedicated COVID-19 updates page for more information on the latest travel guidelines.
